Acupuncture

What is it?

Acupuncture and herbal medicine are the main modalities of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).  It is a 2,000-plus year old medical system that was born out of the theory that ”Qi” (the life force) flows throughout our body and is responsible for all of our body’s functions and, consequently, its state of health.

When the flow of “Qi” is compromised due to various causes, over a course of time, it will inevitably lead to a development of a disease.  Diagnostic techniques used by doctors of TCM allows not only for understanding the underlying causes of the current problem, but also for recognizing the imbalances in the body before the damage is done, making it the best system for preventative medicine.

How Acupuncture Works…

Acupuncture is a form of a treatment that involves insertion of hair-thin needles into specific points on the body.  This process restores the body’s normal, smooth flow of “Qi” which results in significant or complete improvement of the condition, alleviating not only the symptoms, but also treating the root cause of the problem.

From a western scientific perspective, it is not really understood yet how exactly acupuncture works.  Only the numerous effects it has on the body are observed and well documented.
