Ear Candling / or Coning

Ear candling or coning is an alternative way to remove ear wax.

Regardless of the continued debate on whether it works or not, the immediate effect is evident.  It involves placing the narrow end of a hollow, cone shaped candle made of beeswax, into the external auditory canal.  The far end of the candle is lit, which creates a vacuum.  Together with the warming effect of the smoke it melts the wax and loosens debris lodged in the ear.

The process takes about 15 to 20 minute each ear.

Many people swear by ear candling to for wax removal, sinus relief, and other health benefits.  That’s what Susan Yara and Sharzad Kiadeh went to East Meets West Holistic Center in Los Angeles to try it for themselves.  Watch this episode of The SASS to see what happens!
