Very fine needles are inserted into pressure points on the face increasing blood flow and Qi.

In oriental medical theory, lines and creases on the face represent energy blockages, reflecting the state of the “Chinese” internal organs (not to be confused with the actual organ).  Treating meridians of energy that link internal organs with specific areas on the face, improves overall heath and vitality, which is reflected in the glow of the skin.

Once the organ is harmonized the wrinkles will tend not to reappear.  For example, a single line between the eyebrows indicates a dysfunction of the “Chinese Liver,” often caused by stress.  Boosting the energy of the Liver will significantly reduce the appearance of that line, improve skin condition, promote a greater ability to deal with stress and increase one’s feeling of well being.

To have a face-lift by acupuncture about 12 treatments are required.  Response to treatment depends on one’s health and age.  Most people experience a noticeable reduction of wrinkles and increased elasticity after only 4-5 treatments.  Annual ‘boosters’ help delay the aging process of the skin.

A facelift by acupuncture is not recommended for those with hypertension, which would have to be treated first.
